This collection contains archaeological excavation field notes, reports, videocassettes, slides, photographs, films, and computer printouts documenting archaeological investigations of sites throughout coastal Georgia, particularly in Chatham County. These investigations were performed through the Center for Low Country Studies at Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) with Lawrence E. Babits as the principal investigator. Sites investigated include the marine railway site on Hutchinson's Island, Causton's Bluff, Hunter Army Airfield, Richmond Hill, and Rincon.

Founded in 1935 as a city junior college of Savannah, Georgia. After joining the University System of Georiga in 1963, Armstrong was designated a four year college.
